Marie Gorishek

Marie Gorishek, 95, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of La Salle, died March 24, 2018, at The Fountains Assisted Living Facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday April 4, 2018, in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 PM Tuesday April 3, 2018, in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle and Wednesday in the church from 9:30 AM until time of services.

Marie was born on December 8, 1922, in La Salle to George and Marie (Buffo) Loebach.  She married Victor Gorishek on July 7, 1943, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Peru.

She worked at Brennan and Stuart Insurance in La Salle for 21 years.

Marie was cherished by her family, friends, and those who knew her.  She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and was famous for her potica.  She liked spending time in her yard, crocheting doilies and afghans, reading, watching all types of sports, and had a love for completing jigsaw puzzles.

Marie is survived by her 4 children: Paul (Nancy) Gorishek of East Moline, IL, Amy (Terry) Snyder of Fremont, MI, Lois (Chuck) Sabino of Mt. Juliet, TN and Carol (Bryan) Leslie of Gillette, WY. She  had 11 grandchildren: Lisa (Matt) Comeaux, Leslie (Brian) Gorishek Bleuer, Lindsay (Matt) Gorishek Kmoch, Tina (Jeff) Bohn, Jason (Shannon) Snyder, Jennise (Paul) Phillips, Nick (Michelle) Sabino, Ken Sabino, Joe Sabino, Joe (Shelley) Leslie, and Craig (Kristina) Leslie. Marie was blessed with 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Gorishek, mother Marie Buffo, sister Marge Blocki and granddaughter Heather Snyder.
