Louis Barroso, 82, of Peru, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease at Spring Creek Nursing Home in Joliet.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private funeral services will be at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Louie was born in Lockport on April 19, 1943 to Louis and Josie (Marroquin) Barroso. He married Nancy J. Gascoyne on July 9, 1977. They were able to enjoy 48 years of marriage together. Louie was a good hard-working man all his life, starting out managing the rotor-rail car wash in Peru. He then moved on to what would become his career as a service technician at Illinois Valley Business Equipment and Modern Business. Once retired, Louie decided to go back to work part-time at Home Depot in Peru where he enjoyed interacting with and helping the public.
Louie was a sports enthusiast and loved coaching all of his daughters as they grew up. He made sure to always be that proud dad in the stands cheering them on. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. Louie enjoyed watching the boat races with his family every year in DePue. A longtime favorite hobby of his that he shared with his brother was his love of bowling. They played on a bowling league for years at Ladd Lanes and in a Brothers Tournament where they would travel.
Louie is survived by his wife, Nancy of Peru; children, Tammy Vernon, Kelli Kaszynski, Tracie Wallin, Amy Elera, Gina (Tom) Stack, Tiffany Barroso and her son, Joey, at home, who helped tend to Louie during his ill health, all of Peru; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Phil Barroso of DePue; and one sister Linda Sanchez of Fullerton, CA; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brandee Barroso, and one grandson Bradyn Barroso.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nancy Barroso at 1325 14th St. Peru, IL 61354.
