Lorene I. (Stringer) Keenan

Lorene I. Keenan, 95, formerly of Wenona and Toluca, died surrounded by her family on July 31, 2018 in the Villas of Hollybrook in Washington.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday August 6, 2018 in St. Mary’s Church in Wenona with the Franciscans Friars officiating.  Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Toluca.  Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is assisting her family.

Mrs. Keenan was born in Glasford on October 14, 1922 to Sam and Florence (Emery) Stringer.  She married Robert Keenan on October 19, 1946.  Lorene  was a homemaker, who worked at the Toluca Garment Factory for ten years.

Lorene enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, cards and games.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Altar and Rosary Society,  the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Wenona American Legion Auxiliary. 

Mrs. Keenan is survived by nine children, Jerri Cook of Collinsville, Sister Janice Keenan OSF of Peoria, Robert (Patty) Keenan of East Peoria, Kathleen (Rick) Lutz of Wenona, Susan (Mark) Wudtke of Toluca, Mary Fisher of Washington, Willard (Robbin) Keenan of Ottawa, Ann (Jerry) Sales of Eureka and Clare (Robert) Ripp of Peoria; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on April 2, 2006, two brothers, Oscar and Ansel Stringer, and two sisters, Isal Shaw and Geraldine Randall.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
