Lorena Robinson, 97, of La Salle, passed away November 23, 2025 at Manor Court of Peru.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 29, at the First Congregational Church of La Salle with Rev. Lee Iseley officiating. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Lorena was born January 30, 1928 to Irvin and Jennie (Schier) Gocken on the family farm in Oregon, IL. After finishing high school, Lorena received her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Upon graduation, she became a home economist for the extension office in Ottawa. She then met and married the love of her life W. Thomas Robinson and moved to the Robinson family farm in Dimmick. Tom and Lorena raised four sons: William Robinson, Barry (Lorraine) Robinson, Richard (Elaine) Robinson, and Gregory (Phyllis) Robinson. Lorena was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of La Salle and served on numerous boards and committees. She was also a long-standing member of Illinois Valley Garden Club, La Salle County Historical Society, and La Salle County Farm Bureau. She was a former recipient of the NewsTribune Woman of Year Award. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed traveling and gardening, and in her later years, she enjoyed writing poetry and playing Bingo.
Lorena is survived by three of her children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters, and her beloved son, Greg.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
