Lois J. Wilmot

Lois J. Wilmot, 90, of Peru, passed away December 29, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Alex Garncarz officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilmot was born in Peru on January 9, 1935 to Hobert M. and Ella E. (Halm) Peters. She married Don Wilmot in the Zion United Church of Christ in Peru on May 21, 1961. She loved going to LP, Cubs, and Bears games. She also enjoyed bus trips and visited 48 of the 50 states. She loved her church, the Zion United Church of Christ in Peru. With her church, she loved hearing the chimes, sang in the choir, and teaching Sunday school.

Lois loved her Zion friends, LP Cavalier classmates, and all the dogs. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and attending all the games, events, and graduations. She was proud of all of them. Later in life, she discovered the iPad and Facebook.

Mrs. Wilmot is survived by two sons, David (Wendy) Wilmot and Dean Wilmot; and four grandchildren, Katie, Klaire (Wesley), Leah, and Harry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don on February 17, 2005, her sister, Alice Guenther, her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Carol Peters.
