Laura Ann Margherio

Laura Ann (Grivetti) Margherio, 97, of Ladd, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026 at Manor Court of Peru.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, at St. Bede Abbey with her son, Rev. Ronald Margherio OSB officiating. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Visitation will be in the abbey on Thursday from 9:30 until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Laura was born July 15, 1928 to Tony and Ida (Gualandri) Grivetti. She married Frank Margherio at St. Benedict's Church in Ladd on April 10, 1948.

Laura loved decorating for Christmas and other holidays. She enjoyed cooking big dinners for family gatherings. She will be remembered for being charitable with food and funds to the Hall Township Food Pantry in Spring Valley and getting toys and clothes for kids at Christmas. She loved traveling and going antiquing with her husband. 

Laura is survived by her children: Fr. Ronald Margherio, O.S.B., Sandra (Danny) Yanez, and David (Jeannie) Margherio; grandchildren Nicole Yanez Messineo, Raquel Yanez Henriquez, Abbie Margherio Hough, and Tony Margherio; nine great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Theresa (Grivetti) Franco; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2005 and her siblings, Ralph, LeRoy and Richard Grivetti, Dorothy Filippini, Lucille Barsztaitis, and Loretta Lorenzi.

The family sincerely thanks the staff of Manor Court in Peru and OSF Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Laura.
