Kristine M. Soderholm

Kristine M. Soderholm, 59, of Naperville, formerly of Peru, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 15, 2025.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be 12:00 PM Saturday, March 1, at Crossbridge Community Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Kris was born in Evanston on January 14, 1966 and adopted by Ralph and Martha “Marty” (Pinner) Soderholm. She was a 1984 graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. She earned her associate's degree from Illinois Valley Community College, her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, and her master's degree from Northern Illinois University. She was a middle school teacher at Trayer J. Hill School in Naperville for 27 years. Kris loved being a teacher. She pursued her career with encouragement from her friend, Lori Tipton. "She believed I would make a great teacher." Kris loved her students.

Kristine was the brightest light in the room. She had many friends that she loved fiercely. If any of them were in need, she was there to help and support them. Shopping, hanging out, and eating was a definite must with those dear to her. Kris was quick-witted, clever, and always ready for anything. She was an avid reader and had “plethora” of words to share! She had a love for the Cubs, and camping from a tiny girl on, especially Devil's Lake by the Wisconsin Dells, where she made many trips.

Kris is survived by her father Ralph (Linda) Soderholm of Carbon Cliff, IL; one brother Eric (Michelle) Soderholm of Peru; two nephews Jens and Christian Soderholm; one niece Devon DelVallee; and one great nephew Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents.
