Kenneth L. Balma Sr., 87, of Spring Valley, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at Allure of Peru.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 26, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. Burial will be at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Spring Valley. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 AM until time of services.
Mr. Balma was born in Spring Valley on January 26, 1938 to John and Lina (Maggi) Balma. He attended Hall High School in Spring Valley. He married Dorothy Mills, later married Mary Stalsis, and then married Janice Wiltse.
Mr. Balma was a lifelong Teamster and was a truck driver for Bernabei Trucking, Charlie Ind Construction, Ladd Construction, and then Cattani and Sons.
Mr. Balma enjoyed playing Euchre with his buddies while having a beer at the local Spring Valley taverns and also at Rawson Lake in Bureau.
Mr. Balma is survived by two sons Ken (Danielle) Balma Jr. of Utica and Joe Balma of IL; daughter Paula Buckley of Spring Valley; two stepdaughters Patti (Carl) Golden of Spring Valley, Dixie (Don) Reed of Bluffton, SC, Tina (Billy) Gerard of Alta, IA; stepson Joe (Linda) Wenzel of Cherry; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives Dorothy, Mary, and Janice, a stepson Rusty Mills, and granddaughter Jessica Balma.
