Katherine “Kathy” Rue

Katherine “Kathy” Rue, 63, of Peru, passed away September 20, 2023 in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday October 1, 2023 in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Alex Garncarz, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ in Peru, officiating. Cremation will follow services and burial will be private in Peru City Cemetery.  Visitation will be in the funeral home from 12:00 PM until time of services.

Kathy was born in Streator on May 19, 1960 to Kathleen Miller.  She married Martin “Marty” Rue on April 24, 1982.  She was a homemaker who loved her family.  She was a beloved wife and mother.

Kathy is survived by four children, Stephanie L. Rue of Oglesby, Martin J. Rue Jr. of Peru, Joseph J. (Genesis) Rue of Marysville, WA, and Terra (David) Lynch of Gridley; two sisters, Sue (Gary) Thomas and Kelli Freeman; and one brother Fred Lurz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marty on October 10, 2019, one brother, James Lurz, and one sister, Jackie Van Gorder.
