Karen L. Koenig, 76, of Peru, passed away August 13, 2025 in DeKalb County Rehab in DeKalb.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 22, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Phil Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be at funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until services.
Karen was born in Fort Dodge, IA on August 9, 1949 to Kenneth and Georgiana (Sorenson) Brayton. She worked for USDA Farm Bureau. She enjoyed working, watching John Wayne and western movies. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by one daughter Jody (David) Bradley of Elmhurst; one son Robert Koenig of La Salle; one grandson Dakota Koenig; one step-grandson David (Tiffany) Foster; three step-great-grandchildren, Leilah, Oliver and Dominic Foster; one sister Darlene (Gail) Holst of Otho, IA and one brother Roy Brayton of Utah ; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen Cookman, and one brother, Marvin Brayton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chad and Terry Brayton, Tommy Leek, John Russell, Josh Reynolds, and Curt Kemmerling.
