Joseph V. Dooley, 92, formerly from LaSalle, Illinois, died Monday, June 13, 2022, at St. Paul’s Elder Care in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LaSalle. Visitation for Mr. Dooley will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery. The mass will be live streamed via the La Salle Catholic Parishes Facebook page.
Mr. Dooley was born August 22, 1929, in LaSalle, Illinois to Joseph and Christine (Loehr) Dooley. He graduated St. Bede Academy in Peru, Illinois in 1947 and then the Trade School at Coyne Electrical in Chicago, Illinois in 1956. Mr. Dooley retired in 1994 from St. Bede Academy where he was employed as a custodian.
He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Church where he ushered mass for over 40 years. Mr. Dooley volunteered in a large capacity with many different organizations: The Illinois-Michigan Canal, Meals on Wheels, and AARP to name a few. He was also a member of the Calvert Council Knights of Columbus #792, the longest member, for over 74 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John F. Dooley, his sister-in-law, Delores Dooley, his brother Paul Dooley, and his nephew John M. Dooley.
He is survived by one niece, Christine (Robert) Bork of Caledonia, Michigan, his nephews: Daniel (Linda) Dooley of Neenah, Wisconsin, Michael (Nancy) Dooley of Marietta Georgia, Bruce (Julie) Dooley of Westmont, Illinois and Timothy Dooley of Ottawa, Illinois, 10 great nieces and nephews and eight great, great nieces and nephews. “Uncle Joe” will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
