John “Jack” Danczak, 79, of La Salle, died at home on August 18, 2023 after a brief illness with his wife, sister and his dog, Mia by his side.
A private service will be at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Jack’s arrangements.
Jack was born in La Salle on May 25, 1944 to John and Ann (Bergles) Danczak. He graduated from La Salle-Peru High School in 1962. He then entered the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam from 1962 until 1966. Upon returning to the area, he worked at J&L Steel for 7 years. He then started at Illinois Cement and eventually became Director of Maintenance & Engineering. Jack left there in 1996 to work for, and partially retire from, John Pohar & Sons, a job and family he truly enjoyed. Work was his hobby throughout his life and you could always rely on Jack to figure out how to fix something.
He married Carla MacDonald on November 30, 2006.
Jack is survived by his wife Carla; sister Chris Jackson of La Salle; sons, John (Chanda) Danczak and Keith (Natalie) Danczak, both of California; grandchildren, Cammie, Reese and Tristan; brothers-in-law, Mike Taylor of La Salle, Randy (Sandy) MacDonald of Augusta, GA and Martin (Susan) MacDonald of Ottawa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Barbara Taylor.
