John B. Oberholz

John B. Oberholz, 92, of Peru, passed away at home on February 16, 2020.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Carl Hammer, Pastor of Peru Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle with full military services conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be in the funeral home at 9:00 AM Thursday until time of services.

John was born October 4, 1927 to John Joseph and Bernadette (Dyball) Oberholz. He married Carol Ann Hocking on July 18, 1955 in St. Mary’s Church in Peru. John was an electrical engineer. He served with the US Navy.

John enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He also enjoyed fishing.

John is survived by one son John (Laura) Oberholz of Peru; two daughters Amy (James) Crouch of La Salle and Libby (Edward) Margherio Mesa, AZ; one brother James F. Oberholz; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann in 1995; three children Clara, Cammie, and Chuck Olson; two grandchildren J.J. and Amanda; and one brother Jerry Oberholz.
