Marie was born in Cedar Point on February 11, 1922 to Thomas and Louise (Vezzetti) Ricca. She married Norman “Babe” Wassil on November 20, 1941. Marie worked for Westclox for 28 years and was a member of St Theresa’s Catholic Church in Cedar Point. Although she only had an eighth grade formal education since the family could not afford the 25 cent week commute to L-P High School. Marie affectionately known as Aunt Mimi was blessed with a quick wit, a kind soul, an honest nature, and a propensity to approach life in a straightforward manner. Marie’s many talents included gardening and inspired crochet artistry, while also being an excellent cook, baker, and canner. She was known for her cinnamon twists made from extra pie crusts disappearing quickly on first come, first served basis. Aunt Mimi and Uncle Babe will be remembered as gracious hosts who welcomed friends and family into their home with warm hospitality. Although she never went swimming or ever rode a bicycle, she was well rounded culturally. In addition to seeing 48 states, she visited Mexico, Russia, Italy and recalled the hottest day of her life being at a bullfight in Spain.

Mimi is survived by one sister Geraldine (Jack) Ferrari; brother-in-law Stanley Sydlowski; friend and caregiver Cindy Golden; nieces, Sherry Hilton, Wendy Estrada, Christina (Matt) Rios, Gary Ferrari, Tom (Michele) Ferrari, Tim Sydlowski, Greg (Karen) Sydlowski, Shawn (Tiffany) Sydlowski, Jason (Megan) Sydlowski, Mike Cusick, Dan (Mary) Cusick and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was prededed in death by her husband, two sisters Margaret (Ivan) Finnegan and Carol Sydlowski, and one niece Sheryl Finnegan.
