Jody Andes

Jody Andes, 53, of Columbia, SC, formerly of Spring Valley, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2023 due to complications following an accident on December 27, 2022.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday April 23, 2023 in Hollowayville United Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Slutz officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is entrusted with Jody’s arrangements.

Jody was born on October 17, 1969 in Spring Valley to John (Joyce) Andes and Madeline and the late Arlan McLaughlin.

He attended Mendota High School and graduated from Hall High School. Jody settled in Pelion, South Carolina.  He was a traveling on-site superintendent for MRS Construction.

Jody was an amazing man filled with love and genuinely caring.  Family was everything to him.  He would give anyone the shirt off his back.  He was always willing to help others.  He was hardworking and went above and beyond for his crews.  Jody worked hard and he played hard.  He was always joking and could always make you laugh with his quick wit, and put you in the best of moods.

The last gift he gave was life.  Despite his injuries, he was able to save several lives by donating all he had left to give.

Jody leaves behind many to cherish loving memories of him.  He is survived by his parents; his life partner Angie; daughter Jessica (Jarrod); son Johnathon (Paige) and stepsons, Josh and Justin; grandchildren, Abby, Mikey and Arlan; sister Julie (Eric) Kisellus; two brothers, John (Debbie) Andes and Jim (Tina) Andes; stepsiblings, Libby (Jim) Ambler, Joy (Jeff) Sterling, Vickie (Ron) Chiesi, and Jimmy (Theresa) Klein. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends who called him brother.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather Arlan, his maternal and paternal grandparents and one nephew in infancy.
