JoAnn “Dody” Rooney, 90, of Cherry passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Per JoAnn’s request, private graveside services will be at Miner’s Memorial Cemetery in Cherry with Rev. Michael Driscoll, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Utica, at a later date.
Mrs. Rooney was born on June 1, 1934 in La Salle to Thomas and Louise (Adamczyk) Lamb. She married Edward J. Rooney on June 7, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle. Mrs. Rooney retired from Redi-Mix in Princeton. Her biggest and greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known as Granny to many.
Mrs. Rooney is survived by two daughters Bonny (Michael P.) Kohr of Princeton and Bridget (Timothy) Potthoff of Cherry; nine grandchildren Lou (Kaytee) Guerrini and Nick (Gina) Guerrini, Meaghan Jones, Lexi (Chris) Backes, Ryan Kohr, Corey (Sarah) Blair, Eric (Jillian) Loebach, Sarah (Samantha) Loebach, and Andrew (Cheriz) Loebach; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sons-in-law Louis Guerrini of Spring Valley and Donald Loebach of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, two daughters Lori Guerrini and Cindi Loebach, and one son Ricky Rooney.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Foster Village of Peoria.
