Jerry W. Curl, 83, of Ottawa, died at home peacefully on June 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday June 29, 2024, in Crossbridge Community Church of Ottawa with Pastor Trevor Workman officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday 9:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral in La Salle is entrusted with his arrangements.
Jerry was born in Kankakee on October 6, 1940, to Vernon and Helen (Lownes) Curl. He married Patricia Borre on August 13, 1960, in Hickory Hills, IL. Jerry was a devoted husband to Patricia and father to his family for 64 years. He was a professional truck driver for over 60 years. He received multiple Million Miles Safety Awards. Transportation and family were his life. He enjoyed being a dairy farmer, helping with 4-H, and was an avid animal lover. He and his wife Patricia devoted their time as Mr. & Mrs. Claus for 22 years for the city of Ottawa.
Jerry is survived by his wife Patricia of Ottawa, four children: Cristine (James) Baxter of Ottawa, Gerald (Bobbi) Curl of Diamond, David Curl of Baytown, TX, and Patti Ann (Derek) Hauser of Wildomar, CA., twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, with one on the way, three great-great grandchildren, and one brother.
He was preceded in death by one son; Kenneth A. Curl, his parents, one brother; Jimmy Curl, one grandson; Dylan Jolly, and one granddaughter; Jessica Turner.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be directed to Group Blessing Project, a project at Crossbridge Community Church that provides gifts for children in need at Christmas time or The Dylan Jolly Memorial Scholarship Fund, in honor of Jerry’s Grandson that passed away.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
