James “Jim” Stevens

James “Jim” L. Stevens, 68 of La Salle, died May 25, 2019 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with the Rev. Mark Nowakowski officiating. Burial will be private in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until time of services. 

Jim was born in Peru on July 27, 1950 to Melvin and Elsie (Hart) Stevens. He married Joyce Gibson on February 1, 1972. Jim worked in construction and was a factory worker. 

He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed all sports. He loved attending his grandsons sporting events, gardening, fishing, and doing yard work.

Jim is survived by one daughter Jayme (Lyle) Begner of Peoria Heights, one son Jim Stevens of Litchfield Park, AZ, two grandsons, Jon Lowry and Blake Begner, four sisters; JoAnne McCullough of LaSalle, Donna Girard of Ottawa, Judy (Dale) Swiskoski of Peru, Cheryl Stevens of La Salle, one brother Jerry Stevens of La Salle.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, one brother Ronald Stevens, and one sister Carol Hernandez.
