James A. Staublein

James A. “Seymore Butz”, aka Jimmy Smooth, Staublein, 64, of La Salle, died as a result of an automobile accident by Mendota on May 7, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday May 14th from 4 to 7:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.  Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in First Baptist Church of La Salle with Pastor Jered Cochran officiating. Burial will be private.

Jimmy was born in Bristol, PA on November 16, 1959 to Jacob and Deloris (Hampson) Staublein.  He married Dianne Dunczyk on April 19, 1980.  He was a self-employed business owner as a driver and in the warehouse business.  He started MCW Midwest Championship Wrestling.

Jimmy was heavily involved in the independent wrestling circuit and was a promoter of the MCW.  He enjoyed being a DJ and loved his family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife Dianne; two daughters, Brandi (Rufus) Jones Jr. of Aurora and Brenda Dunczyk of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Staublein of La Salle and Richard (Ashley) Staublein of Virginia; three nieces; and two nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Pearl, who raised him, and a grandson Juan Becerra.
