Irene J. May

Irene Janet May, 89, of Ladd, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023 in Aperion Care in Princeton where she resided the past year.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Pastor Mike Slutz, pastor of Hollowayville United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Mrs. May was born in La Salle on February 15, 1934 to Ignatius and Caroline (Nowakovski) Rosczyk. She married Harold E. May on June 28, 1952. For over 45 years, she was the office manager at Waukesha Industrial Rubber Plant in Ladd and retired in 1999. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing word puzzles, collected dolls, and also enjoyed camping with her husband Harold. Her greatest joy was her family.

Mrs. May is survived by one daughter Karen (Michael) Shinnick of Spring Valley; one son Dave (Lilly) May of rural Granville; six grandchildren Joshua (Robyn) Strait, Travis (Vicki) Strait, April (Shane) Weathersby, Dustin Strait, Julee (Dale) Corcoran, and David (Tiffany) Shinnick; eleven great grandchildren Austin Bassetti, Garrett Weathersby, Haylee Weathersby, Liam Strait, Piper Strait, Evee Corcoran, Maddie Strait, Parker Corcoran, Quinn Shinnick, Abram Strait, and Emmett Strait; and one sister Harriet Bartashius of La Salle.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 7, 2017 and ten siblings.

Pallbearers will be Lilly May, Michael Shinnick, and her grandchildren.
