Herminia E. Magallanes

Herminia E. Magallanes, 82, of La Salle, passed away January 29, 2024 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM Saturday at St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle with the Very Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8:00 PM Friday at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with a rosary to be recited in Spanish by Father Otto at 6:00 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services. Following the burial there will be a luncheon at Holy Rosary Shrine in La Salle. 

Mrs. Magallanes was born in Totatiche Jalisco, Mexico on May 8, 1941 to Panfilo and Maria Cruz Castañeda Escatel. She married Rogelio Magallanes on March 19, 1965. She enjoyed playing the harmonica, crocheting, and embroidering. She was a wonderful cook.

Mrs. Magallanes is survived by her husband Rogelio of La Salle; one daughter Martha (Sergio) Sanchez of La Salle; one son Hector Magallanes of Schaumburg; four grandchildren Christopher, Thomas, Stevan, and Brianna Sanchez; and one great grandson Julius Sanchez.

She was preceded in death by seven siblings.
