Obituary

Hattie Jean Jenkins, 97, of Spring Valley Illinois passed away on April 8, 2022, at Aperion Care of Spring Valley.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hurst Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. There will not be a visitation.

Hattie was born June 6, 1924, to Charles and Clara (Wiese) Tomaszewski of rural Peru. She attended Brayson School which was the original one room school in Dimmick Twp. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. Hattie married Stanley Zborowski after he returned from serving in the Army during WW 2. Together they had one daughter Carole. They later divorced. She then married James Jenkins in 1980. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary, both in Peru.

Survivors include her sister Laura as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hattie is also survived by her only child Carole Gibson-Larson of Colorado Springs CO, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, sisters Mildred and Florence, and her brother Albert.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Hattie's name to either St. John's Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
