Gilbert T. Dagraedt

Gilbert T. Dagraedt, 95, of La Salle, passed away on March 24, 2025 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements. Graveside services will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Webster Park.

Gilbert was born in La Salle on July 19, 1929 to Henry and Martha (Lopatiz) Dagraedt. He served with the United States Army from 1951-1953. He married Dianne Zera at Saint Patrick’s Church in La Salle on August 14,1954. They were married for 34 years. He worked at the La Salle NewsTribune where he was in charge of the carriers and retired from Borg Warner in 1978. Gilbert enjoyed collecting cars, riding his motorcycle, and buying and gifting jewelry and watches. He enjoyed photography and capturing the moment. 

Gilbert is survived by two daughters Peggy (William Clemens) Shinnick of Ottawa and Kathy (Dale) Rossi of Oglesby; one son Mark (Julianne) Dagraedt of Cherry; five grandchildren Julee (Dale) Corcoran, David (Tiffany) Shinnick, Ben (Brianna) Dagraedt, Beka (Kevin) Velazquez, and Alex (Hannah Cook) Kotecki; seven great grandchildren Evelyn, Parker, Quinn, Summer, Aiden, Georgia, and Naomi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Dagraedt, and two brothers Henry and Richard Dagraedt.
