Fredric J. Gullo, 98, formerly of Oglesby, passed away July 15, 2025 at Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 22, at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle with full military services conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with services.
Fred was born in Oglesby on March 19, 1927, the youngest of seven children, to Anton and Anna (Lanzi) Gullo.
He attended Oglesby Grade School and La Salle-Peru High School After graduation, he entered the United States Navy. He served, primarily in Hawaii, until he was honorably discharged at the end of World War II.
Fred worked at Marquette Cement and later at Buzzi Unicem for over 30 years until his retirement. He lived in Peru, Liberty Village, Stonecroft Village and Illinois Veterans Home until his death. Everyone knew him for his rock and roll song and dance. He enjoyed driving around the La Salle-Peru area and stopping for “just one beer” at various taverns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Georgie, Johnny and Tony; his sisters, Teresa Teates, Josephine Manicki and Mary Jordan.
Fred is survived by his nieces, Irene Green, Janice Henry, Diane Bird; and his nephew, George Manicki.
