Francis B. Wenzel, 81, of LaMoille passed away at his home on June 6, 2024 after battling pancreatic cancer for over a year.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 11 at St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Jeff Windy officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle. Visitation will be 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM Monday, June 10 at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. A rosary will be recited prior starting at 4:00 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
Mr. Wenzel was born in La Salle on October 11, 1942 to Clarence and Lucille (Renkosik) Wenzel. He married Betty Engelhaupt on October 13, 1962 at Immaculate Conception Church in Spring Valley. He worked as a farmer all his life.
Mr. Wenzel loved music and playing the accordion. He was a creative inventor. He was very involved and instrumental to August Hill Winery from the beginning. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was the kindest man with the most generous heart.
Mr. Wenzel is survived by his wife Betty of LaMoille; four children Mary Beth (Tom) Norton of LaMoille and Longboat Key, FL, Susanne (Mike) Bullock of West Chicago, Jennifer (Matt) Wenzel-Wamhoff of LaMoille, and Mark (Teri) Wenzel of Mendota; four grandchildren Jessica Bullock, Daniel Bullock, Luke Wamhoff, and Elaina Wamhoff; his brother Clarence (Carole) Wenzel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mathew Wenzel, sister Cecelia Wenzel, and nephew Larry Wenzel.
