Eugene Gallegos

Eugene Gallegos, 85, of La Salle, passed away April 4, 2026 at Allure of Peru.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will not be any services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Eugene’s funeral arrangements.

Mr. Gallegos was born in California on May 9, 1940 to Joseph and Mary Gallegos.  He married Darlene Safranski on December 9, 1972.  He was a chef at Starved Rock and Senica’s Oak Ridge.

Eugene enjoyed fishing, arts and cooking. He loved blues and jazz music. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

He is survived by two daughters Tina (Patrick) Griffith of La Salle and Cheryl Escalente of Pueble, CO.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene on February 19, 2016; three siblings, Tere Rutledge, Charles Spears and Karen Landmessfer.
