Emma Lou Ashley, 88, of Tonica, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 13, 2020.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Kalister officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Private burial will take place after the services in the Old Tonica Cemetery in Tonica. The Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica is assisting the family with arrangements. The funeral will be live streamed from the Hurst Funeral Home Facebook page starting at approximately 10:50 AM. Due to Covid-19, face masks are required.
Mrs. Ashley was born in Streator on December 20, 1931 to Henry and Laura (Petersen) Walling. She married Robert James Ashley Sr. on October 8, 1950. She owned and operated along with her husband Ashley’s Art & Crafts and also made celebration cakes. Mrs. Ashley enjoyed china and oil painting, and also quilting. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years.
Mrs. Ashley is survived by four sons William (Charlene) Ashley of Maggie Valley, NC, Ronald (Judy) Ashley of Perryburg, OH, Donald (Sue) Ashley of La Salle, and Gary Ashley of La Salle; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Karen Ashley of Tonica.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on August 26, 2018, one son Robert Ashley Jr., and one sister Ruhama Hiatt.
Pallbearers will be William, Ronald, Donald, Gary, Jeremey, and Andrew Ashley.
