Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery in La Salle. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting Ellen’s family with arrangements.

Ellen was born on July 15, 1960. She was the tenth living child of thirteen born to Tom and Ann Doyle of Dimmick.

Ellen accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in January of 1986, which changed her life's direction. Ellen earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from University of Nebraska Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Bob Jones University. In 1993, Ellen went on a mission trip to Armenia. This experience kindled a desire to become a full-time medical missionary. After completing a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling in 1996, Ellen undertook her mission leading to serving in Cameroon, West Africa in 1998. She started her missionary career with Dr. Carol Loescher near the capital city of Yaoundé, where she helped establish a medical clinic. In 2000, she moved to Northern Cameroon in the sub-Saharan desert in hopes of starting a mobile medical clinic among the nomadic people. Several years later, God directed her to Foumban, Cameroon, to help Dr. Loescher with a medical ministry among the Bamoun and Fulani people.

In July 2005, Ellen was invited to help a missionary pilot whose vision was to evangelize people in remote regions. Ellen embraced the opportunity with eagerness. Participating in mobile evangelistic clinics was a joy for Ellen. She loved meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the African bush people. Ellen was blessed to see fruit from her efforts as people accepted the Lord as their Savior and churches were planted. In addition to her bush ministry, Ellen treated prison inmates, and she served as a camp nurse and counselor at "Camp Joy" for numerous summers.

In 2013, Ellen moved to Bafoussam, Cameroon serving for 10 years among the Bamiléké people. On one trip into the bush, Ellen encountered a young child suffering from malnutrition, and the Lord directed Ellen to care for her. Doris lived with Ellen for many years and became like a daughter. Ellen encouraged Doris’ education with a desire that Doris return to her village and share the gospel with her native community.

In June 2023, Ellen moved to France to continue her ministry with the Loeschers and to receive medical care in Heidelberg, Germany for liver cancer diagnosed in 2016. Ellen has “fought the good fight, finished the race and has kept the faith”. Our sweet sister is an example of a life of love lived for God and others. You are now at PEACE!

Ellen is survived by 6 sisters Paula (Vince) Lenz, Deborah (John McCrosky) Walens, Joan Peterson, Kay (Ken) Tassett, Becky (Dr.  Peter) Meier, and Kim Doyle; four brothers Luke (Sue) Doyle, Pat (Lynn) Doyle, David (Polly) Doyle, and Mark (JoAnne) Doyle and 57 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Bryan; brother-in-law Tom Peterson; mother Ann; father Tom and brother William.

In lieu of flowers, Ellen has requested that donations be directed to Gospel Fellowship Association, 1809 Wade Hampton Blvd. #110, Greenville, SC 29609 to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
