Eleanor “Ellie” Limberg

Eleanor “Ellie” Limberg, 76, of Peru, died in her home on September 4, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday September 11, 2023 in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Thomas Rutherford officiating.  Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 PM Sunday and 9:30 AM until time of services on Monday. Services will be live streamed via the Hurst Funeral Home Facebook page.

Ellie was born in Calubian Leyte, Philippines on April 6, 1947 to Eustaquio and Francisa (Rosales) Ruiz. She married Thomas Limberg on May 21, 1971.  She owned Stauffer’s Figure Salon in La Salle-Peru, Streator and Pontiac.  She also owned Joe’s Station House Pizza and Rey’s Oriental Store in La Salle.

Ellie was a member of Grace Ministry Church in Spring Valley where she was a Worship Leader.  She enjoyed singing, sewing, fishing, traveling, cooking and playing cards.

Ellie is survived by her husband Tom of Peru; two sons, Rey (Juliet) Limberg of Peru and Joel (Shawn) Limberg of Streator; daughter- in- law Marife Limberg of Philippines; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Emmanuel “Manny” Limberg Sr., and 8 brothers and sisters.
