Eleanor M. Manley, 89, of Utica, passed away suddenly December 14, 2023 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Utica with Msgr. Mark Merdian officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Thursday at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday 10:00 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Manley was born in Utica on May 1, 1934 to Elmer and Mildred (Selmer) Fowlie. She married James “Jim” Manley on October 6, 1956. She worked as an operator for Illinois Bell, the village clerk of North Utica, a teller at the Utica Community Bank, and retired in the hardware department at the Utica Elevator.
Mrs. Manley enjoyed family vacations throughout the years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Manley was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Utica and the Oak Ridge Golf Course and its lady’s league. She enjoyed her Thursday afternoon card playing with her girlfriends. She also enjoyed golfing, gardening, and traveling. She and her husband Jim have vacationed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 25 years.
Mrs. Manley is survived by two children William (Julianne) Manley of Ottawa and Jill Sapp of Peru, a daughter-in-law Kristen Manley of Peru, five grandchildren; Kirby, Courteney, Will, Zoe, and Josh, four great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on July 3, 2018 and two sons Steven and Robert Manley.
