Elaine A. Hallett, 86, of Utica, passed away at her home peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday October 8, 2023.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Utica with Rev. Michael Driscoll officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.
Mrs. Hallett was born in Spring Valley on July 19, 1937 to Glen and Tillie (Pytlak) Barnhardt. She married Richard Hallett at St. Mary's Church in Utica on November 5, 1960. They were married for 49 years. Mrs. Hallett worked at Westclox and then at the US post office in Utica. She devoted her life to her family. She loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandson.
Elaine was a very kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. When asked, she offered wise gentle advice that was trusted by all whom found comfort in her. Elaine will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Hallett is survived by two daughters Renee (Luis Rios) Sheth of Peru; Jolene (Keith) Brown of Princeton; six grandchildren Kayla Potthoff, Andrew Potthoff, Hannah Sheth, Brianna Atkinson, Katie Hammers, and Kristine Olsen; one great grandson Ethan Murillo; one sister Mabel Barnhardt of Streator; and sister-in-law Patricia Barnhardt of Leland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on November 9, 2009 and two brothers, Robert and Joseph Barnhardt.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Potthoff, Luis Rios, Keith Brown, Louie Doerr, Greg Waldorf, and Mikan Biers. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Atkinson and Maurico Murillo.
