Edith Ann Koehler, 98, of La Salle, passed away April 30, 2022 in La Salle County Nursing Home in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in St. Mary’s Church in Utica with Rev. Mike Driscoll officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Private burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Utica. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with her services.
Mrs. Koehler was born in Quincy on January 8, 1924 to Ralph and Mary (Turwelp) Smith. She graduated from St. Francis Catholic School, Notre Dame High School and Conservatory of Music at Quincy College in medical science. Mrs. Koehler went to St. John’s in Springfield and received her MT certificate.
She went back to Quincy College and received her BS in Chemistry. After graduation, she worked in clinics in Quincy, Washington, DC and Peru, IL. She married Milo Koehler on January 31, 1958 while in Quincy and moved to La Salle.
Mrs. Koehler was a member of St. Roch’s Church, Resurrection Church and now St. Mary’s in Utica. She was a volunteer for PADS, SPEC, CCD, and was a board member of Catholic Charities.
She is survived by her husband, Milo, two sons, Matthew (Beverly) Koehler of Nashua, NH and Christopher (Lisa) Koehler of Plano, TX; and two grandchildren, Lauren (Jon) Koehler-Lee and David Koehler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Bede Academy.
