Dr. Joseph H. Donahue, 74, of Peru, passed away unexpectedly November 29, 2023 at OSF St. Paul’s Medical Center in Mendota of natural causes.
Visitation will be Wednesday December 6 from 2-5:00 PM at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Dr. Donahue was born in Mendota on January 25, 1949 to L.M. “Mike” and Alice (Guilfoyle) Donahue. He served with the United States Army. He married Jan Warcken on July 24, 1982. He retired as a doctor of chiropractic care after 35 years. He enjoyed music, reading, and fishing. He loved gardening and competed in the Illinois State Fair with his vegetables. Dr. Donahue wrote papers and gave seminars on the history of chiropractic and also published a book. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Dr. Donahue is survived by his wife Jan of Peru, one daughter Meridith Donahue of Peru, two sisters Pat Donahue of Rockford and Cathy Donahue of Mendota, two sisters-in-law Sandee Donahue and Ellen Donahue, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Michael “Mick” Donahue and Jerry Donahue.
