Donna Sandrolini Obituary

Donna Jean (Koehler) Sandrolini, 83, of Peru, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Illinois.

Graveside services for family only will be next to her parents and sister on Tuesday, December 15, at Peru City Cemetery, with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family with arrangements. At Donna’s request, there will be no visitation.

Donna was born on September 15, 1937, in Peru, to Harold and Mildred (Kohr) Koehler. She married Raymond Sandrolini on October 26, 1957, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Peru.

Donna was a 1955 graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School. She was a devoted wife and mother who also worked in Admissions at Illinois Valley Community Hospital (formerly People’s Hospital) for 25 years.

A member of St. Valentine’s Church in Peru, Donna spent many weekends with her sister and parents—then later with her family—at the Koehler family’s summer cabin called Idlewild, located at Walnut Grove Resort in Putnam along Lake Senachwine. Donna enjoyed getting together with her good friends, Ethel Lund,Betty Corsolini and Cathy Baima, to go out to eat or take an occasional road trip. Additionally, she liked to dine at Cabin Fever Bar & Grill either on a Saturday or Sunday evening with a glass of her favorite wine, Merlot.

But most of all, Donna loved her family and always looked forward to spending time with them for birthdays, graduations, holidays and other get-togethers. She and her husband took annual trips during the summer to Chetek Wisconsin, later taking their granddaughters with them when they were children.

Donna is survived by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Lori (Keith) Halliday of Peru; her son, Mike Sandrolini of Glen Ellyn, IL; her granddaughters, Mackenzie Halliday of Denver, Colorado; and Krystal Halliday of Normal, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Walker.
