Donna Jean Bugiyne

Donna Jean Bugiyne, 84, of Mendota, formerly of LaSalle passed away peacefully May 2, 2019.

All services will be at Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle. Visitation will be Monday 4 - 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Donna was born January 4,1935 in Pana, IL to Herbert & Fronie (Bland) Harmston. Her family moved to Depue when she was 6 then to Seatonville. She married James Bugiyne Sr. May 20,1951 moving to LaSalle where she resided until 2009 when she moved to the Mendota Lutheran Home. Prior to retiring she last worked at Eagles grocery a job she truly enjoyed...just not as much as a homemaker.

Donna loved her children above all – as a young mother she always had her best intentions and as she learned better she did better. She loved baking for anyone that would eat it, and enjoyed sewing. She enjoyed raising cattle in her childhood years, she loved all animals but her heart held a special place for dogs. She made the dress she is adorned in today...she loved that dress so much that she held on to it for almost 50 years...made of her favorite color green and dads favorite flower. She was a second mother to many knowing that everyone deserved love and as the years went by you seen that more and more with her while she never missed an opportunity to express her fondness and love. Mom was fondly known as “Grandma”  at Mendota Lutheran Home, thank you all for that.  

She is survived by her children: Phyllis (Cecil) Atwell of Tonica; Richard, William, Robert and Laura Bugiyne all of LaSalle; Gerald (Janice) Bugiyne of Conyers, GA; Pat (Tom Sr.) Olsen of Mendota and Lorraine (Rick) Keef of LaSalle. Special niece more like a daughter Anna (Bill) Casey of Ottawa.

Sisters Dale Kuhl, Marylou Klopcic and brother Louis Harmston. 26 grandchildren and 59 great grand children. She was blessed!!!!

She is preceded by her husband James Sr. 1978, son James Jr. 2016; grandchildren Mark Margherio 2017 and Tiffany Anderson 2011. Great granddaughters Trista Margherio 2006 and Brooklynne Price 2015, her parents, 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Richard Bugiyne, Mike Margherio, Keith Milus, Tony Milus, Tom Olsen Jr. and Lucas Schofield.
