Donald Ray “Kub” Kubberness, 93, of Peru, passed away January 21, 2026. Donald was born Donald Peters on 17 July 1932 in Hills, MN. He was adopted by Frederick and Ruth (Converse) Kubberness at the Sioux Falls, SD Children’s Home on 18 May 1933.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Kub’s funeral arrangements.
He graduated from Arlington High School in 1951. He married Ruth G. Robertson 3 September 1965. They had three children. Gwen Doreen Kubberness, Frederick George Kubberness and Raymond Donald Kubberness. Grandfather to Barbara Jean Antoine, Ambrosia Sue Whittington, Rebecca Rae Friday-Johnson, Annastacia Marie Smith, Michael Allen Kubberness, Micheala Rae Kubberness and Tavis Parker. He was a great-grandfather to Christopher Darrion Cook-Antoine, Jamel Antoine, Icon Antoine, Brooke Lynn Whittington, Jada Marie Smith, Nyziah Carmello Smith, Jordan Paul Smith, Kayleigh Elizabeth Friday-Johnson, Olivia Marie Friday-Johnson and Naviah John Friday-Johnson.
Kub, as he was called, had 2 years of college in Aberdeen, S.D. and he went to L.A.X. in Los Angeles to learn airplane mechanics, and worked at the airport as a night security guard. He drove semi for Consolidated Fright-ways for over 20 years and got his Million Mile Pin. He was a election Judge, Layman Minister for Grace United Methodist Church in La Salle. He taught Bible study at Grace and was a mason since 1970.
