Donald "Donnie" Sparling

Donald “Donnie” Sparling, 69, of Peru passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024 in Goldwater Care in Spring Valley.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Donnie was born in Peru on August 8, 1955 to Dale and Rita (Trost) Sparling. He served with the United States Air Force stationed in Texas and North Carolina. He worked for the CSX Railroad for over 30 years. Donnie married Pam (Kowalski) Sparling on December 16, 1978. He then married Terri Sudaj on September 9, 2006.

Donnie was a graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School where he played football. He enjoyed coaching Peru Little League and was a member of the Peru Rescue Station. He had a great sense of humor. Donnie loved working in his garage. He enjoyed the holidays with his grandchildren when he had Santa come to visit them. If someone was down in the dumps, Donnie could cheer them up.

Donnie is survived by his wife Terri of Peru; one daughter Charissa (Simon) Arzola of Peru; one son Jason (Brandy) Sparling of Spring Valley; one stepson David Flower of AZ; and six grandchildren Oriana, Savannah, Alek, Natileigh, Adrian, and Maya.
