Donald Smith Obituary

Donald H. Smith, 75, of Wenona passed away March 7, 2023 at Loyola Medical Center in Hines, IL.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 14, at Cumberland Cemetery in Wenona with full military services to be conducted by the Streator American Legion Post #217 and Streator VFW #1492. The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is assisting Don’s family with arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born in Toluca on June 6, 1947 to Charles E. and Edna (Rodewald) Smith. He married Mary Lou Mann. Don served with the US Army from 1966 to 1968 where he was stationed in Korea for 1 year. He worked for Owen’s Glass in Streator for over 45 years.

Don grew up on the farm and also helped his cousin farm for many years. He enjoyed driving in the country to go deer spotting. He also loved watching his grandkids during their activities. Don served on the Cumberland Cemetery board. He was a member of the Wenona American Legion and active with the Wenona Food Pantry.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Mary Lou of Wenona; two sons Troy (Wendy) Petrimoulx of Rutland and Christopher (Yesica Vera) Smith of Spring Valley; five grandchildren Dylan, Cassidy, and Tyler Petrimoulx, Cody (Taylor Burns) Smith, and Alex Smith; one sister Darlene Smith of Toluca; one brother Charles Smith Jr. of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews, including Krista (Tyler) Perry, Mollie (Josh) Alden, and Matt (Lauren Tjaden) Healy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers William and Edward Smith.
