Obituary

Donald F. Shevlin, 90, of Peru, passed away February 7, 2022 in the La Salle County Nursing Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday in St. Joseph's Church in Peru with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Webster Park with full military services conducted by the Peru Memorial Veterans Group. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements. Masks would be kindly appropriated.

Mr. Shevlin was born in La Salle on December 16, 1931 to Edward and Barbara (Schneider) Shevlin. He married Jackie Perhay on May 1, 1954. He served with the United States Marines during the Korean War. Mr. Shevlin was a truck driver for over 45 years. He enjoyed doing yardwork and watching his grandkids' activities. 

Mr. Shevlin is survived by his wife Jackie of Peru; three sons Allen (Karla) Shevlin of Overland Park, KS, Jeffrey (Carmen) Shevlin of Peru, and Timothy (Sarah) Shevlin of Peru; six grandchildren Andrew Shevlin, Erika (James) Sprong, Scott (Karina) Shevlin, Ryan Shevlin, Kyle (Christy) Shevlin, and Sarah (Ricky Gaeta) Shevlin; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
