Donald Negro Obituary

Donald J Negro, 76, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Ladd, died on January 8, 2021.  Lovingly surrounded by family, he peacefully passed away after an extended illness and COVID-19 complications.  Although Don’s illness lasted several months, where his health progressively declined, he never once lost his quick funny wit and humor,  compassionate spirit or his faith in God.

Burial will be Sunday May 30 at 12:30 PM in the Ladd Cemetery. A celebration of life will then be 1:30 PM Sunday in Faith Church on 800 Wenzel Rd, Peru with Rev. Steve Adamson officiating.  A luncheon will follow at Seneca’s Oak Ridge Golf Course.

Don was born on July 25, 1944 to John and Lena (Bonucchi) Negro in Spring Valley.  He married Mary Dunn of Ottawa, IL on September 11, 1965.

Don graduated from Hall High School and Midwest Barber College.  He owned and operated “The Dons” Hair salon for 21 years.  He semi-retired from barbering and started to work for Western Surety Company in Souix Falls, SD and later for RLI Bond Division until fully retiring in 2009.

Don was involved in Politics.  He was a precinct committee member and Ladd Village Board trustee for 25 years.  He also held a Bureau County board position for 17 years.  He loved helping people get a start in their life, playing euchre and watching the Cubs.

Don and his wife Mary were snowbirds for 6 years before fully transitioning to Mesa, AZ in 2015.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; his children, Brenda Negro of Libertyville, Brian Negro of Paradise Valley, AZ, Christopher (Milbe) Negro of Las Cruces, NM and Lisa (Matt) Wanner of Charlotte, NC.  He has four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  His legacy and memory will be cherished and kept alive by all he so generously loved and touched

He was preceeded in death by his daughter Michele Negro in 1995 and parents.

His wife Mary is thankful for the blessed life and good memories she shared with Don

A life so beautifully lived will be beautifully remembered.  Rest in peace my husband and loving Father, your life will be celebrated for the rest of ours.
