Donald Ray Kimes

Donald Ray Kimes passed away at 93 peacefully with family at his side on June 30, 2023 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Don was born on August 16, 1929 in Geneva, Illinois to Raymond and Opal Kimes.
Don attended West Aurora High School until he joined the Army/Air Force at age 17. He was an over the road truck driver most of his life. He lived in Aurora and Yorkville until he moved to Arkansas about 45 years ago where he continued his career.
Don was proud and happy to live his final 3 years at the LaSalle Veterans Home. He made a lot of friends at the home as well as played a lot of cards and completing many many jigsaw puzzles. Don had a great love for his caregivers at the VA.
He enjoyed driving stock cars as a young man and loved to watching Nascar races.
Don is survived by his daughter Lisa, son Jason (Sherri), and daughter in law Susan. Eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fern Osborn Kimes, sons David and Barry.
Graveside service will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL with full military honors conducted by the US Army. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting his family with arrangements.
