Donald F. Buffo, 88, of Peru, passed away suddenly in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru on June 20, 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday in Queen of the Holy Rosary Memorial Shrine in La Salle with The Very Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Cremation will follow and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in La Salle at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Don’s arrangements.
Mr. Buffo was born in rural Tonica on August 10, 1935 to Frank and Louise (Bondi) Buffo. He married Idabelle Runnion on June 19, 1954. They just celebrated 70 years of marriage. He spent his career working as a lab technician at Lone Star Cement.
Don enjoyed flying model airplanes and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife Idabelle of Peru; eight children, Duane (Anne) Buffo of Peru, Brian (Tracie) Buffo of Indianapolis, IN., Dale (Christy) Buffo of Peru, Madonna Buffo of Savoy, Mary Kay Fulton of St. Louis, MO., Phillip Buffo of La Salle, Darren (Cheryl) Buffo of Columbus, IN., and Karen Fortney of Farmer City; twenty- three grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great-great-granddaughter, and one brother Roy Romagnoli.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
