Dolores A. Hardy, 85, of Peru and formerly of Lostant, passed away peacefully in her home on May 1, 2021.
Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Patrick Demeulemeester officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 PM Wednesday and 10:00 AM Thursday until time of services.
Mrs. Hardy was born in Magnolia on November 5, 1935 to Boyd and Margaret (Comisky) Huffines. She was a 1954 graduate of Lostant Community High School. She was married to Ralph Burcar from 1955 until 1969. She then married Robert V. Hardy on February 14, 1970, who died on December 22, 2013.
Dolores was the first female foremen at Sundstrand’s before she and Robert started Country Catering in Lostant in 1980 and retiring in 2001.
Dolores enjoyed playing cards, board games, boating, waterskiing, cooking, baking, gambling, especially her tickets, and tending to her flowers. She loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by six children, Doug (Josie) Burcar of Leonore, Brian (Cindy) Burcar of Lostant, Mick Burcar of La Salle, Barbara Woycik of Colorado, Kathleen (Bill) Mercer of Kentucky and Patrick (Janet) Hardy of Colorado; two step-daughters, Debra (Larry) Brown of Hennepin and Patricia Hardy Liles of La Salle; one step-son Robert Hardy Jr. of La Salle; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald and Richard Huffines, one step-son Mark W. Hardy and one son-in-law Mark Woycik.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lily Pads or Illinois Valley Food Pantry.
