Diane Kay Freeman

Diane Kay Freeman, 79, of Utica, passed away peacefully in her home on March 22, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 28, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of services.  Burial will be private.

Mrs. Freeman was born in Ottawa on July 10, 1946 to Ronald and Betty (Russell) Dettore.  She married Larry “Joe” Freeman on June 6, 1970.  She enjoyed playing bingo, playing slots on the riverboat, dancing, shopping, going to auctions, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Diane is survived by one daughter, Deana (Brian) Herkert of Utica; one son, Joe Freeman of Utica; three grandchildren, Madalyn Freeman, Cole Herkert and Kaitlyn Herkert; one sister, Doreen Dettore of Utica; one brother, Ronald “Spike” Dettore of Peru; and daughter-in-law Audrey Freeman of La Salle.

She was preceded in death by her husband on November 6, 2010 and one grandson, Gavin Joseph Freeman on May 29, 2016.
