Danny R. Milner

Danny “Budweiser Dan” R. Milner, 63, of Cherry, formerly of Tonica, passed away July 25, 2022 while in the care of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home in Tonica and then also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Dan was born in Spring Valley on February 16, 1959 to Marion and Ann “Bootsie” (Kotecki) Milner. He was raised in Tonica where he attended grade school and high school. Dan then went on to pursue a degree in agriculture from Illinois State University. After graduation, Dan lived and worked in agriculture until his last breath. He married Heidi Smith on August 29, 1981, which whom he shared his only two children. He was known for working hard and, more so, playing harder. He had a love for golf, playing cards, his St. Louis Cardinals, and loading up #17 on the roulette table. Dan was most proud of his family, his children, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed inviting anyone and everyone over to make and enjoy his sumpanellas at his home. If you knew Dan, you would have been touched by his hard work, generosity, and mischievous spirit.

Dan is survived by his mother Bootsie Milner; children Molly (Jason Haskell) Milner of Peru and Zachary (Brooke) Milner of Chillicothe; six grandchildren: Evan Haskell, Landon King, Layla Haskell, Sydney Milner, Rex Haskell, and Blake Milner; siblings Rhonda (Rod) Strack and Al (Kathy) Milner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Marion, his sister Lori “Liz” Ceresa, and his brother Jimmy Milner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.

Pallbearers will be Al Milner, Kevin Milner, Rod Strack, Shane Strack, Dave Strack, Evan Haskell, Landon King, and Jason Haskell. Honorary pallbearers will be Beth Gillan, Layla Haskell, Sydney Milner, Rex Haskell, and Blake Milner.
