Dale Vogel Obituary

Dale W. Vogel, 80, of Tonica, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. While he was at the hospice home, he was not alone and always had family by his side.

Per Dale’s wishes, his body has been donated to science through the Anatomical Gift Association. Graveside services for Dale and his wife Violet will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Full military honors will be conducted for Dale by the Tonica American Legion. The Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mr. Vogel was born in Spring Valley on December 19, 1944 to Carl and Antoinette (Pflibson) Vogel. He graduated from Tonica High School in 1963. Mr. Vogel served with the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 in the Canal Zone. He married Violet J. (Presser) Kresbach on January 30, 1976 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lostant.  

Mr. Vogel worked as a farmer and dairy farmer alongside his brother Lloyd. After retiring from farming, he owned and operated a lawn mower and chainsaw business. Following that, Mr. Vogel worked at Builders Choice Lumberyard until his retirement. 

Mr. Vogel played first baseman for the Leonore Baseball League and was known as “Sparky.” He was a dedicated member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where he served as a trustee and a member of the Holy Name Society. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Mr. Vogel is survived by four children Deborah Ann Gallup, Terrie Jo (Joe) Carstens, Tracy (Sharon) Kresbach, and Joel (Bonnie) Kresbach; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers Charles Vogel, Lloyd (Jan) Vogel, and Dean (Phyllis) Vogel; and one sister Theresa (Ted) Quaka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Violet on February 14, 2025, one son Troy Kresbach, one grandson Joey Kresbach, two great-grandchildren, one nephew Clint Quaka, one brother and sister-in-law Art (Darlene) Vogel, one sister and brother-in-law Norma (Florbert) Salz, and sister-in-law Darlene (Charlie) Vogel.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
