Carol M. (Ernat) Kittilson, 80, of Oglesby, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2025 surrounded by her husband and family after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no services held. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Carol’s arrangements.
Carol was born on October 28, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Leona (Terando) Ernat in Spring Valley. She attended Gehm grade school, a one room school house in Putnam County and graduated in 1962 from Hopkins High School in Granville. She married Charles A. Kittilson on June 6, 1964 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She was happily married for over 61 years. She loved her beautiful family with all her heart and soul, never tired from her motherly duties and love. After raising her family, she worked at Pamida in Mendota, Pioneer Seed CO. in Princeton, Go/Dan Industries in Peru and then retired from Eakas in Peru after 13 years. Her hobbies were gardening which included her love for growing tomatoes and flowers.
Carol is survived by her husband, Charles, two sons, Carl “Jay” (Tina) Kittilson of Mendota, Christopher (Jennifer) Kittilson of Utica, and one daughter Caryn (Doug McManus) Gray of Oglesby. Six grandchildren, Curtis and Jolene Kittilson, Caitlyn (Jose) Aguilar, Christopher (Ashlee) Kittilson, Joshua Gray, Nicole (Adam) Poole; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruth Ernat of Amery, WI. Two nieces Sharon Podobinski of Hennipen and Shelly Schultz of Lafayette, IN. and many other nieces and nephews.
