Brian Atherton Brandner, 73, of Ladd, passed away January 4, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Monday at the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Pastor Laurie Walker officiating. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley with full military honors conducted by the Ladd American Legion. Visitation will be 9:00 AM Monday until time of services in the funeral home.
Brian was born in Spring Valley on December 4, 1950 to Harlan and Marguerite (Schallhorn) Brandner. He served with the United States Army from 1970 to 1973 as a small arms repairman and was stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. He married Debbie Engelman on July 13, 1991.
Brian worked as manager at Coca-Cola in Peru. He also loved farming and owned B&D Guns. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada, playing euchre, and reading. He also enjoyed repairing guns in his gunshop. Brian was a member of the Ladd Moose, Ladd American Legion, and Dalzell Rod and Gun Club.
Brian is survived by his wife Debbie; four children Ryan Brandner of Rock Island, Jill (Eric) Shevokas of Oglesby, Ethan (Caitlin) Brandner of Ottawa, and Olivia Brandner of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren Anicka Shevokas and Emma Brandner; two sisters Betty (Charles) Baumann of Mendota and Barbara (Dennis) Husser of rural Hennepin; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
