Brandee L. Barroso, 45, of Peru, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2023.
Private funeral services were held at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.
Brandee was born in Spring Valley on August 27, 1978 to Louis and Nancy (Gascoyne) Barroso. She loved sports of all kinds. She won first place in the State of Illinois speed skating competition at four years olds. Having her dad as a softball coach was one of her fondest memories. She also bowled on a league as a young girl with her sisters. In junior high school and all four years at LP High School, she was a cheerleader. Brandee enjoyed watching her son Matt play football and bowling at LP. She also loved all kinds of music.
Brandee loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful heart and contagious smile.
She worked at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa with the Community Health Educational Support Services. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and two Master’s degrees at Benedictine University in the field of public health. She enjoyed bettering herself and receiving a higher education and was working toward her Doctorate of Public Health at Capella University.
Brandee is survived by her parents Louis and Nancy of Peru; three sons Michael and Brandon Robaina of FL and Matthew Maciel at home; six sisters Tammy Vernon of Peru, Kelli Kaszynski of Peru, Tracie Wallin of Peru, Amy (Dante) Elera of Peru, Gina (Tom) Stack of Peru, and Tiffany Barroso of Peru; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one nephew Bradyn Barroso.
