Betty A. (Postula) Shields

Betty A. Shields, 62, of Peru, passed away in OSF St. Francis Medical in Peoria on August 2, 2024, surrounded by her family after an extended illness.

Per Betty’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with her services.

Betty was born in La Salle on December 18, 1961, to Stanley and Mary (Kemmer) Postula.  She married Thomas Shields on June 21, 1987.  She worked as the Postmaster at the Tonica Post Office.  Betty enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and her weekends off.  She also enjoyed her visits to Woodland Resort in Devil's Lake North Dakota to spend time with Tom while he was working. Betty loved spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband Thomas Shields of Peru; two daughters, Abigail (Tyler) Teele of Aurora and Natalie (Paul) Vanderheyden of Belvidere; one granddaughter Penny; one sister Jane (Dave) Ebener of Peru; two brothers, David (Tanya) Postula of Peru and Jeff (Shelly) Postula of Granville; nieces and nephews and her mother-in-law Judy Shields of Peru.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
